Summarize this article with
A shoppable Instagram feed is a gallery of your Instagram posts on your website where each post links to the products it shows. A visitor opens a post, sees the tagged products, and goes to the product page. This guide explains the flow from post to cart, what has to be true on your store, and what to check before you choose a tool.
What is a shoppable Instagram feed?
It is an Instagram feed with products attached to each post. A plain Instagram feed shows your posts and sends visitors to Instagram. A shoppable feed attaches products to each post, so the visitor can reach your product page from the post.
Yotpo's support documentation describes its version as a "shoppable version of your Instagram feed" that links to the store's product pages. It says a photo must be tagged with a product to be added. Its gallery is hosted on a separate domain by default, and visitors reach it through the link in your Instagram bio.
The other model puts the feed on your own pages. The visitor stays on your store, and the posts sit next to your products. This is the model InstaFeed by PopupSnap uses.

How does a tagged post lead to the cart?
A visitor opens a post, sees the product tagged on it, and goes to that product's page. From there, the normal cart and checkout take over.
-
The visitor sees your Instagram gallery on a page of your store.
-
The visitor opens a post.
-
The post shows the products you tagged on it, as small cards with a shop button.
-
The visitor clicks a card and lands on the product page.
-
The visitor adds the product to the cart and checks out as usual.
Two things must be true for this to work. The post needs a product assigned to it. And your store's product catalog must be readable by the tool, so it can show names, images, and links.
Which tools make an Instagram feed shoppable?
Three kinds of tools do it. They differ in where the feed lives and what they need from your store.
| Kind | Where the feed lives | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Bio-link gallery, such as Yotpo's | A separate page you link from your Instagram bio | A product tag on each photo, and a paid plan (Pro, Premium or Enterprise) |
| Feed app on your store | Your own pages | An app for your platform, and a product catalog it can read |
| Your own build on Meta's API | Anything you code | A professional account, a Meta app, and a developer |
Meta's documentation says app users need an Instagram professional account for its APIs. Some tools avoid that. InstaFeed by PopupSnap needs only your public username.
Take care with names. A Shopify app with a similar name to ours already ranks for these searches, and it is a different product from a different company. Check the developer name before you install.
Can you set up a shoppable Instagram feed on WooCommerce?
Yes, with a feed plugin that reads your WooCommerce products and lets you tag them on each post. InstaFeed by PopupSnap shows your Instagram posts and TikTok videos on WooCommerce stores and any website today. Tagging products on those posts is not yet open to WooCommerce or website accounts, so the feed shows your posts without product cards.
InstaFeed by PopupSnap is a WooCommerce plugin that shows your Instagram posts on your store, and it has a free plan. Pro adds TikTok videos, up to 50 posts and a refresh every 6 hours. See the plan limits.
Before you install any shoppable feed plugin, check five things:
-
It reads your WooCommerce products, with prices and stock, and updates them when they change.
-
It lets you tag products on each post, not only link the whole feed to your shop page.
-
It shows the feed on your own pages, not on a separate domain.
-
It works with your theme: block theme (Site Editor) or classic theme.
-
You know who the developer is, and where the plugin comes from.
What about Shopify stores?
InstaFeed by PopupSnap for Shopify is not available yet, and we do not give a date. The Shopify page says what runs today.
On Shopify today, use a feed app from the Shopify App Store that supports product tagging. Check three things before you install: that it tags products on posts, that it shows the feed on your own pages, and who the developer is. If you have a plain website instead, InstaFeed for any website shows your posts, without product cards.
Frequently asked questions
What is a shoppable Instagram feed?
A shoppable Instagram feed is a gallery of your Instagram posts on your website where each post is linked to the products it shows. A visitor opens a post, sees the tagged products, and goes to the product page to buy. It differs from a plain feed, which shows posts but sends visitors only to Instagram.
Do I need a business account for a shoppable feed?
It depends on the tool. Meta's own API tools need an Instagram professional account, which means a business or creator account. InstaFeed by PopupSnap needs only the public username of your account. Check how the tool you choose connects before you change your account type, because the answer differs by product.
Does a shoppable feed update by itself?
It depends on the tool. A feed widget refreshes on a schedule, not instantly. InstaFeed by PopupSnap refreshes every 24 hours on its free plan and every 6 hours on Pro, so a new post can take that long to appear. On Salla and Zid, product tags you assign stay with the post. Plan limits are on the pricing page.
Does InstaFeed by PopupSnap work with Shopify?
Not yet. InstaFeed for Shopify is not available today, and we do not give a date. On WooCommerce and other websites, InstaFeed shows your Instagram posts, but tagging products on posts is not open there yet either. On Shopify today, use a feed app from the Shopify App Store that supports product tagging.
