Edit the countdown text and button
In this article you change the text that visitors see in the countdown: the heading, the description, the countdown button and the email field.
When to use this article
- You want to write your own offer text instead of the template's text.
- You want to change the button wording.
Before you start
- Create a countdown from a template. See Create your first countdown timer.
- Open it from My campaigns by clicking Edit (or Customize design for older countdowns).
Steps
- In the Edit countdown timer editor, open the Main text section.
- Edit the Main heading. The limit is 100 characters. For example:
20% off. - Edit the Description if it appears. The limit is 500 characters.
- Edit the Button text if it appears. The limit is 50 characters.
- Edit the Email field text if it appears. The limit is 50 characters. This text shows inside the field before the visitor types.
- Check the change in the preview.
- Click Save changes.

The Description, Button text and Email field text fields appear only if the template itself includes them. The Main heading always appears.
Check that it works
- Your new text appears in the preview.
- The message "Changes saved successfully!" appears after you save.
Common errors
| Error | Fix |
|---|---|
| You cannot find the description or button field | The template you chose does not include them. Choose a template that does, from Choose a countdown template. |
| The edit was not saved | Check that the text is within the limits above, then click Save changes again. |
