Set the countdown end date and time

The countdown counts down to a date and time that you choose. When it arrives, the popup disappears from your store automatically.

When to use this article​

  • You created a new countdown and want to set the end of your offer.
  • You want to extend or shorten an existing offer.
  • You duplicated an old countdown and want a new date.

Before you start​

  • Countdown Timer is available on Salla only for now.
  • The time you choose is Riyadh time (UTC+3), whatever your device's time zone is.
  • The date must be in the future.

Steps​

  1. In My campaigns, click the Edit icon (the pencil) next to the countdown, or Customize design for older countdowns. The Edit countdown timer editor opens.
  2. In the Offer end time section, click the Offer end date and time field.
  3. Choose the day, hour and minute when the offer ends.
  4. Check the Live countdown timer in the preview panel. It shows the time left until the date you chose.
  5. Click Save changes, or press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac). The message "Changes saved successfully!" appears.
  6. If the countdown is not published yet, click Publish popup.

What happens when the time is up​

  • If the popup is open in front of a customer, it closes automatically when the countdown reaches zero.
  • The popup does not appear again on later visits.
  • The full preview page keeps showing the countdown after it ends, so you can review its design.
  • To run the offer again, choose a new date in the future, then click Save changes.
  • You cannot publish a countdown whose time has passed. If you click Publish popup, "The end date must be in the future." appears. Choose a new date in the future first, then publish.

Check that it works​

  • The message "Changes saved successfully!" appears.
  • Open your store in a private browsing window. The time left on the countdown matches the date you chose, in Riyadh time. Changes reach your store within a few minutes.

Common errors​

What you seeFix
"The end date must be in the future."Choose a date and time after now, in Riyadh time.
"The offer end date isn't valid."Clear the field and choose the date and time again.
You changed the time, left the page, and nothing changedThe Unsaved changes status means the edit was not saved. Click Save changes before you leave.
The time left is hours off from what you expectedThe time is Riyadh time, not your device's time. Work out the deadline in Riyadh time.

FAQ​

Is the end date the same as the schedule?​

No. The end date is the time the countdown counts down to. The schedule sets the days and hours when the popup is allowed to appear. See Schedule countdown visibility by date, day and hour.

Does every template follow the date I choose?​

Yes. After you save the end date, the countdown counts down to that date in every countdown template.
