Send countdown subscribers to Mailchimp

When a visitor submits the countdown form, their data is sent automatically to a mailing list you choose in Mailchimp. The subscriber is also saved on the Subscribers page as usual.

When to use this article

  • You use Mailchimp for your marketing emails and want your countdown subscribers to reach it.

Before you start

  • You have a Mailchimp account with at least one mailing list.
  • Create an API key in your Mailchimp account. The key ends with a dash and a code, such as -us21.
  • Countdown Timer is available on Salla only for now.
  • Use a countdown template with an email field. See Collect emails with Countdown Timer.

Steps

  1. Open the countdown settings page. See Open the countdown display settings.
  2. Open the Integrations tab, then open the Service integrations section.
  3. Under "When a form in this popup is submitted, send the data to:", choose Mailchimp.
  4. In API Key, paste your key. Your lists load from Mailchimp, and "Connected success" appears.
  5. In Default subscriber status, choose Subscribed, or Pending confirmation if you want the subscriber to confirm their subscription.
  6. In Mailing list, choose the list. Under it, Valid fields from your list appears with the field names, such as FNAME.
  7. Click Save. "Updated successfully" appears.

What is sent to Mailchimp?

  • The email address, always. Without a valid email, nothing is sent.
  • Other fields are sent only if the field name in the countdown matches a field name in Valid fields from your list. This is what the notice under the form says: "Match the field names in the popup with the fields you have."
  • If the service rejects a subscriber, for example someone who is already on the list, you see no message and the system does not retry. The subscriber stays saved on the Subscribers page.
  • To stop the integration, choose None, then click Save.

Check that it works

  1. Open your store in a private browsing window and submit the form with an email you own.
  2. Open your list in Mailchimp a few minutes later and check that the email arrived.
  3. After you refresh the settings page, the Mailchimp card stays selected and your details are saved.
