Understand your customer data and privacy
This article explains what Countdown Timer collects from your store's visitors, where you find it, and what happens to it.
When to use this article
- You want to know what is saved about a visitor who signs up in the countdown.
- You want to know what happens to the data when you delete a countdown or uninstall the app.
What data is collected?
- Form data: the countdown collects only the fields in its template, such as the email field. A template without a form does not collect contact data.
- Location: the Subscribers page has a Location column, and the export file has city and country columns (their headers are in Arabic). The city and country are worked out from the IP address, and the address itself is not saved with the form data.
- Performance numbers: impressions, clicks, subscribers and orders. See Understand impressions, clicks and subscribers.
The store script does not load any third-party advertising pixel.
For full details on what is saved and what is not, see What data do your popups collect, and where is it stored? (in Arabic).
Where does the data appear?
- On the Subscribers page: the popup name, the data, the display URL, the location and the date added.
- In the CSV file you download with the Export customer data button. The file contains personal data, so store it and share it with care. See Export countdown subscribers to a CSV file.
- If you connect the countdown to Mailchimp or Acelle Mail, the data is sent to your account there. See Send countdown subscribers to Mailchimp.
What happens to the data?
- Deleting a countdown: its subscriber data is deleted with it, and you cannot undo this. See Delete a countdown timer.
- Deleting a subscriber: you delete the record from the Subscribers page.
- Uninstalling: uninstalling the app does not delete your data. Your countdowns, subscribers and statistics stay. If you reinstall from the same store, they come back as they were.
Check that it is clear
- You know which fields your template collects.
- You keep export files in a safe place.
- You export your data before you delete any countdown.
