Send customers an automatic email after signup

When a customer spins the wheel and submits their email, PopupSnap can send them an automatic email, such as a thank-you message with the coupon code. The feature is called Autoresponder.

When to use this article

  • You want the customer to get a confirmation email after the spin.
  • You want to remind them of their coupon code.

Before you start

  • The wheel template must have an email field. Some templates have no email field (such as the template that collects only a phone number), so no email is sent to their customers.
  • Prepare the email subject and text, and an email address where you want customer replies to arrive.

Steps

  1. In the menu on the left, open the Lucky Wheel group, then click Manage popups. The My campaigns page opens. Click … next to the wheel, then Settings (on a phone, tap Settings).
  2. Open the Integrations tab.
  3. Click the section title Autoresponder to open it. It reads: "Popups will send a confirmation email to customers. Make sure you customize it."
  4. Enter the Message title.
  5. Enter the Reply-to email. This is the address where customer replies arrive.
  6. Enter the Sender name. The customer sees it as the sender, so enter your store name.
  7. Enter the email text in the Message text field.
  8. Click Save.

All four fields are required. If you fill in one field, you must fill in the rest before you click Save, and the Reply-to email must be a valid email address.

Where is the email sent from?

PopupSnap sends the email from its verified address under your store name. When the customer clicks Reply, their message goes to the Reply-to email you entered. This note appears under the field: "We send the email from PopupSnap's verified address under your store name. Customer replies go to this address."

Personalize the email

Write a field name between two % signs to put the customer's data in the email. Example: Thank you for signing up, %name%.

  • %name% is replaced with the customer's name and %email% with their email, if those fields are in the form.
  • %coupon% is replaced with the code of the prize the customer won.
  • If the field is not in the form, or the customer left it empty, it is removed from the email and nothing appears in its place.
  • Percentages such as "50%" and links stay as they are.

Write the greeting so it still reads well if the field is empty: put the name at the end of the sentence. The screen says: "Use %field_name_attribute% with the field name to personalize your email campaign".

New lines do not show in the email. To start a new line, enter <br>.

Sending limits

  • 500 emails per hour for each popup.
  • 30 emails per day for each recipient.

Check that it works

  1. Open your store in a private browsing window.
  2. Spin the wheel with an email address you own.
  3. Check that the email arrived with the right subject and sender name.
  4. Click Reply and check that the reply reached the Reply-to email.
  5. If you cannot find the email, check your spam folder.

After the test, delete the test record from Subscribers.
